AMY'S PICKS: VOL 1
Some things never change...these looks remind me of my 14+ years in business for one obvious reason, I've never been afraid to style and sell prints. What I found in Amy,inc's early years was the customer often came back to the store saying, "I got stopped so many times wearing that floral dress I got last week" or "Everyone asked where I got my leopard blazer and I told them Amy,inc!" That feedback was priceless, made the long days worth it and allowed me to take risks by buying true fashion pieces rather than just easy basics. The morning, day, and night looks above show how to keep a monochromatic look while still wearing a print. The obvious way to wear Smythe's floral lounge blazer, Koral's camo lustrous legging and A.L.C.'s leopard geller skirt is to use a solid white or black top or bottom. As that does work, I love the natural confidence the 3 looks exude by using similar color tones that appear in the print in the items needed to complete the look. Here's to hoping this first edition of "Amy Says" gives you a little skip in your step into fresh Fall fashion. xo, Amy
AMY'S PICKS: VOL 2
Whether its flaming or glowing, cardinal or crimson, red is popping out from most prints this Fall. It's the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure meaning its quite fitting during this time as fashion and frankly the world are seeing lots of extremes. It's a color that women wear when they embody confidence and an ease of getting noticed making it not always desirable to the masses. When used in a print as a sub color, it becomes much easier to approach, and to purchase, so take a look at some of my favorite pieces fitting of this trend.
AMY'S PICKS: VOL 3
Finding a treasure on a sale rack for me is like finding a needle in a haystack. Its definitely an art that only some have mastered. Here are a few tips to make sure you aren't just lured by low prices!
1. Grab goods that are for the most upcoming season or have elements that transition you into the coming months. The Perfecto Jacket from Derek Lam 10 Crosby is a novelty leather style that works for any Autumn/Winter season so while Fall shipments are in full swing, most leather will be on the racks at full price in the best stores and online. The Cinq a Sept Amal Pullover is a short sleeved sweater that may have been paired perfectly with your white skinny jeans but it quickly becomes a Fall favorite with leather pants or dark denim.
2. Buy classics. Never hesitate regarding everyday denim, basic tees, little black dresses, cardigans and anything on the comfy side like AMO's best selling Slouch Trouser.
3. A slashed price splurge, which is everything from Australian specialty brand, is our needle in a haystack. Never turn down those coveted brands that are impossible to mimic or recreate making them truly one of a kind no matter what price was paid.
4. Anything that is trending. Leopard was big for Spring and is even louder for Fall so take advantage of those trends that don't start and end in a single season. Pair our over 60% off Caprio Dress from Parisian favorite IRO with their Lorna Boot and be everything but basic at a basic price.
AMY'S PICKS: VOL 4
With the biggest month in fashion well under way, the conversation is transitioning from what's trending to what shoe we need. Its time to bring in the just under the knee boot! In my opinion, fashion's shift back to feminine silhouette's including midi skirts, voluminous dresses and longer blazers & coats inspired this timeless boot style. A few "how to wear" tips from the experts may be necessary as we have grown accustomed to the ankle bootie and are quite fond of its ability to be worn before our winter weather arrives. The above inspo pics are two looks that are approachable and relatively classic, great examples to help wrap your mind around how to step into this trend. Also, I've shown my favorite new arrivals from our best selling brand Loeffler Randall. Both of these boots embody the animal print trend that took over Fall '19 footwear while the neutrality of each print creates an ease when styling. Click the Aziza jacket from Cinq a Sept, Delfi's Sabrina dress and the java Marguerite coated skinny from L'Agence for buy now, wear now pieces to pair! xo, Amy
AMY'S PICKS: VOL 5
I went digging through past decades to spotlight some of this season's everyday trends!
70's: Peace, love and rock & roll...graphic tees became wildly popular with corduroy bell-bottoms and platform heels. Grab a block heel from Loeffler Randall and Mother's Super Cruiser to modernize this look.
80's: Big shoulders...a new generation of women entered the workforce sparking "power dressing." Shoulder pads became all the rage and the exaggerated detail is present again today.
90's: Hip Hop jewelry...picture Linda Evangelista covered from head to hips in yellow gold Chanel chain links, some embellished with pearls and some with black leather snaking through. California designer Paula Rosen is adding her touch of diamond and spinel clasps to modernize this look.
00's: Velour tracksuits and trucker hats were seen on females of all ages which has respectfully evolved into our current love of all things athleisure.
